Who We Are

3bd Architects (LLP) is a RIBA (Royal Institute of British Architects) award-winning architectural practice run by three Partners who have a strong design focus and have over 30 years of experience between them. Founded in 2010, we have always had a clear vision for delivering creative, functional and innovative architecture.

Our core services range from architectural design to technical construction detailing and project management.
We specialise in; contemporary high-quality residential/commercial extensions and new builds ranging from small, medium to large developments. We also have extensive and specific experience working and managing listed and historic building renovations.

Today, our firm continues to add value to projects and we have expanded our market sectors which includes a growing list of completed projects for domestic and developer clients in the United Kingdom. Overseas our client base covers individuals, small/medium-sized businesses and international organisations.

Professional Credentials

As a professional architects practice we are proud of maintaining the highest levels of integrity and operating standards to ensure this we are:

  • Since 1931, in the UK, the title 'architect' has been protected under the 'Architects Registration Act'. This restricts the use of the title to those deemed to have the skills, experience and qualifications required to perform the role. The Architects Registration Board (ARB) regulate the use of the title and maintain the register of architects. All 3bd partners are registered architects and abide by the ARB code of conduct.   • Beyond the statutory architects register, 3bd are proud to extend their professional integrity to include the code of conduct monitored by the ROYAL INSTITUTE OF BRITISH ARCHITECT (RIBA). This extends our commitment to include continued professional development, quality management systems, environmental policies and carry professional indemnity insurance.   • The 3bd architects pride themselves on being at the cutting edge of technological proficiency and uses the latest versions of Autodesk REVIT (BIM), Enscape, AutoCAD, Sketchup, V-Ray and Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Indesign, Dreamweaver etc.), Dropbox, Quickbooks and Paymo. Our cloud based system enables us to access information and share with anyone from any location.

  • We are strong believers in improving our environment, not just carbon emissions, but the whole package, including the spaces we inhabit, the use of natural resources and wildlife habitats. Within the role as architects our agenda is not only to make things less bad, but ensure our interventions are distinctly positive.

    We are signed up to CO-WHEELS which is a pay-as-you-go car hire scheme with vehicles available to hire in convenient locations across the UK. This is a cheaper, greener and more convenient alternative to owning and using your own car.

  • We carry architects professional indemnity insurance to cover the cost of any damages caused by incorrect advice to clients. We have never needed to make a claim and like to think of it as a safety net only.

  • We also work with large corporations to help them achieve specific sustainable development goals (SDGs) such as: quality education, poverty alleviation and well being in local village communities in parts of Sub-Saharan Africa.

    We comply and conform with the local law including the Framework of French business law under the OHADA Treaty (Organisation for the Harmonisation of Business Law in Africa / l'Harmonisation en Afrique du Droit des Affaires).

    This guarantees a safe legal environment for economic activities and to enhance economic investment.

Experience

We have expanded our market sectors to include projects in the United Kingdom (UK) and overseas. 

In the UK, we provide services for domestic and developer clients in the South West of England (Gloucester, Bristol, Bath, Cotswolds, Cornwall) and London. We have knowledge and expertise in planning issues around equestrian developments on greenbelts and flood zones.
Our specific experience in New Builds, HMO and Listed Building conversions gives us an edge as we are able to identify areas of opportunities to maximise the value of the project by mitigating project uncertainties, improving building quality and potentially greater ROI over the life of the building.

Overseas, we provide services for domestic and developer clients in Belgium, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), France, the Netherlands, Kenya, South Africa, UAE (United Arab Emirates) and Zambia. We have expanded our client base to include individuals, small to medium-sized businesses and large international corporations such as Atlas Copco, Bollore Logistics, EPIROC, Eurasian Resources Group and MMG.

We work with larger corporations to help them achieve specific sustainable development goals (SDGs) such as quality education, poverty alleviation and well-being in local village communities. Working in Subsaharan Africa has enhanced our knowledge and appreciation of cultural differences, the importance of perseverance, patience and the need to adapt to changes in the political and economic environment all learning experiences for us.
